Joining MEPRA

Once membership criteria are fulfilled, joining MEPRA is an easy process and there are five categories of membership to accommodate all types of public relations practitioner.

All MEPRA members are required to observe a strict Code of Conduct which aims to ensure the highest standards of PR practice are maintained.

Each membership application must be supported by an introduction from an existing MEPRA member.

Full Member
This membership category is for established public relations firms. If you are a newly formed agency, you may find that you will need to join as an Associate Member before becoming a Full Member of the Association.

To Apply: You will need to submit a completed membership application form, three written references from your current retained client-base stating length of relationship and scope of work, plus a trade licence in the name of your practice. Full members are voted into MEPRA on review of their application by the Executive Committee.

Associate Member
This membership category is for newly formed public relations firms, or agencies with between one and four full-time employees working in PR, that are voted into the association by the Executive Committee, but do not yet meet the complete set of criteria for full membership.

To Apply: You will need to submit a completed membership application form, two written references from your current retained client-base stating length of relationship and scope of work, plus a professional services licence.

Affiliate Member
This membership category is for firms or individuals providing business services to the public relations industry.

To Apply: You will need to submit a completed membership application form, two written references from your current retained client-base stating length of relationship and scope of work, plus a professional services licence.

Corporate Member
This membership category is for PR / Public Affairs / Communications Managers working for a reputed organisation or company dedicated to maintaining the highest levels of professionalism in public relations. Membership belongs to the organisation or company and, subject to MEPRA approval, may be transferable by the company in the event of a change in personnel. Applicants can nominate two additional members of the PR / Public Affairs, Communications team to be included in the corporate membership.

To Apply: Along with a completed membership application form, a letter is required from the employer’s senior management confirming its commitment to maintaining the highest levels of professionalism in public relations and nominating the current PR / Public Affairs / Communications Manager . Two other members of the PR / Public Affairs / Communications team may also be nominated for inclusion.

Individual Member
This membership category has been created for independent public relations practitioners or freelancers.

To Apply: You will need to submit a completed membership application form, together with a professional services licence and two written references from your current retained client-base stating length of relationship and scope of work. You should have a minimum of two years experience in public relations to join as an individual member.

Annual membership fees

Full membership:

5-15 employees – AED3,000

15 – 50 employees - AED5,000

50+ employees - AED10,000

Associate membership:

AED2,500

Affiliate membership:

Corporate – AED5,000

Individual – AED1,000

Corporate membership:

AED5,000

This is for the senior corporate communications or PR manager, plus two nominated members of the corporate communications or PR team. AED1,000 for each additional nominated team member.
