1. Welcome and introduction

Mr Guy Taylor outgoing President of MEPRA 2011 welcomed guests to the AGM, introducing current office bearers Deputy Chairman Mr Tim Harrison, Treasurer Mrs Sconaid McGeachin and the GM Ms Carine Duvignaud to the members.

Mr Taylor provided an overview of 2011 thanking the outgoing Board for their time and effort during 2011, recognizing that as volunteers with full time jobs, this is not always an easy task.

Mr Taylor said the Board had done well during the year, meeting its KPI’s and building on the momentum inherited from the previous years.

Previous MEPRA Executive Director, Rebecca Hill, encouraged the Board to thank Ms Carine Duvignaud stating that although she had joined MEPRA mid year, Carine had worked hard to gain a good understanding of the role and organization, its objectives for 2011 and MEPRA’s strategic plan for 2012 and beyond.

Mr Taylor tabled the financials for the end of 2011 indicating that there had been an increase in margin with a surplus of 13%  - net operating profit of AED80,935.39.

2. General Managers report

Ms Duvignaud outlined in detail the events and activities undertaken by MEPRA in Qatar, Abu Dhabi and Dubai during 2011 and the revenue these generated.

Committee reports were tabled for Education and Development; Corporate Communications;Registered Agency Group  (RAG) and Standard & Ethics.

Training during 2011 was very successful with over 35 training courses/boot camps being conducted.

While less people attended courses during 2011, more income was generated overall. 

Ms Duvignaud outlined activities planned for 2012 and the MEPRA goals and objectives for 2012 – 2015

3. New Board Members

Mr Taylor introduced the 2012 office bearers and officially handed over to Mr Tim Harrison as Chairman for 2012 to introduce the new Board.

Mr Harrison welcomed the new Board and moved a vote of thanks for Mr Taylor on behalf MEPRA and its members.

Mr Harrison then provided a brief overview of MEPRA plans and activities for 2012 before inviting members questions and suggestions.

 Members recommendations:

  • Attract new members and encourage current members through increased specific networking events
  • Increase membership benefits
  • MEPRA to update its use of social media as a platform for communications
  • Provide a resource for members regarding communications/public relations
  • Show members how MEPRA is investing memberships fees in the industry through its activities
  • Invite media to events and raise media awareness about MEPRA

Mr Harrison thanked members for the suggestions and recommendations, and stated that the Board would take all into considerations for the future.Mr Harrison thank all embers for attending the AGM and for their input.
