MEPRA Academy is offering a training course that will guide exhibitors on how to cut through the clutter by developing a clear PR strategy, understanding the media landscape and learning how to present an organisation’s story to gain media interest and leave a lasting impression on its audience.
Hosted in partnership with dmg events, which organises more than 50+ events across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, North America and Europe, this training course will be led by senior PR professional John Rynehart from Four Communications, who has almost 20 years’ international and local experience in PR and journalism. The session will also feature a Q+A with a practicing UAE exhibition trade journalist and a presentation from veteran exhibition director Ray Tinston of dmg events.

Lead Facilitator: John Rynehart
John has almost 20 years’ experience as a journalist and communications professional, working in Australia, the UK and the Middle East. As the Deputy Managing Director for Four Communications, one of the fastest growing PR agencies in the Middle East, John provides strategic communications support for a large number of clients across the private and public sector with a well-developed expertise in media liaison, developing and implementing international communication plans and managing high profile media and promotional events. He has also worked across a number of sensitive and issues-related topics that have required reputation management.
John’s professional background is in the sports and health services industries, and he has handled clients in law, tourism, leisure, education and hospitality. John has particular strengths in providing event-specific PR support for business-related events, having worked on a number of trade shows in the UAE including Cabsat, World Art Dubai and Careers UAE, along with other large-scale exhibitions such as the Dubai International Motor Show and Gulfood.
Speaker: Ray Tinston
Originally from Cape Town, Ray started his career in hospitality at Three Cities Hotels and then City Lodge Hotel Group before emigrating to the UK where he switched career to the exhibition industry in 2000.
Ray has worked with some of the world’s largest organisers and venue operators in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa and is currently employed as Portfolio Director, Hospitality – Events & Exhibitions at DMG (Daily Mail & General Trust) Events Middle East, Asia and Africa. Additionally, Ray owns his own selective consultancy business which undertakes consultancy work for Tourism Authorities, Convention Bureaus, Congress Organisers, The UAE and Qatar Olympic Committees and Venue Owners/Operators (including hotels).
Ray is a commercially driven, focused motivator of a large team of high performance individuals and who prioritises the happiness and wellbeing of his team which ultimately benefits their customers. Accreditation: MEPRA is currently working with the UK’s Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) on establishing a partnered Continuous Development Program (CPD). This course will be recognised within the CPD framework and count towards becoming a CIPR and MEPRA Accredited Public Relations Practitioner. The CPD Framework will be launched in Q3 2017.
