Deema Kingsmill-Moore
MEPRA Fellow and Head of Learning and Development, Burson
Deema Kingsmill-Moore is a highly respected leader in Learning & Development, with over 30 years of strategic
communication expertise spanning both agency and client-side roles within the dynamic communications industry. Her
career is marked by a deep commitment to fostering growth, building community, and championing continuous
learning.
As Head of Learning & Development, Deema has consistently elevated professional development. At H&K (now
Burson), she re-launched ‘The Hub’ in 2019, transforming London’s L&D offering into a robust and engaging platform.
Under her leadership, over 60 new training opportunities were introduced, alongside comprehensive career
progression plans like the ‘Advance’ and ‘Advance+’ programmes, guiding colleagues from junior to senior levels.
Following the recent merger of H&K and BCW to create Burson, Deema has been instrumental in shaping the future of
global learning at Burson. Working closely with the global L&D team, she has played a pivotal role in building the new
Burson Academies. This involved not only designing the comprehensive content for each Academy and building the
courses, but also meticulously designing their global facilitation – considering diverse locations, formats, and cohort
sizes, and crucially, ensuring sensitivity to neurodiverse learning needs. Her work enables the seamless scaling of their
offerings worldwide.
Prior to her current role, Deema served as Director of Communications for Marriott International across the Middle
East and Africa (2012-2019). Here, she built the communications discipline from the ground up, providing critical
strategic counsel during landmark events such as the acquisition of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, the launch of the
world’s tallest hotel (JW Marriott Marquis Dubai), and Marriott’s content studio. Her earlier 8-year tenure at H&K Dubai
saw her manage a diverse portfolio of consumer, tech, and CSR clients, while also nurturing colleague development.
Deema’s significant contributions to the Middle East communications sector were recognized through her appointment
to the Board of the Middle East Public Relations Association (MEPRA) from 2014-2019, where she was also awarded a
Fellowship for her continuous industry support.
She firmly believes that continuous, life-long learning is the cornerstone of a fulfilling and successful career, and that
empowering individuals through accessible learning opportunities is paramount. Beyond her professional
achievements, Deema finds joy in exploring new places, the tranquillity of the seaside and mountains, and connecting
with others over a warm cup of tea or coffee – embodying the kindness and collaborative spirit she brings to her work.
