This one day mobile video skills workshop is aimed at practitioners who already have some experience of producing video on smartphones and iPads and who now want to step-up and produce more complex, dynamic and engaging online videos.

Who should attend?

Practitioners who have previously attended our introductory course and are now ready to build on their learning and improve their production skills. The course is suitable for communication professionals and content creators who have a working knowledge of mobile video production techniques.

Tip: This intermediate level skills course is focused on the needs of those who are familiar and confident with basic smartphone video production techniques. If you have no previous experience of working with video on mobile platforms, you may wish to consider first coming on our introductory level course.

Facilitator: John Whyte-Venables MCIPR

John Whyte-Venables MCIPR specialises in showing people how to make professional looking video for the web using mobile devices and currently leads on multimedia skills training at the UK’s Chartered Institute of Public Relations.

John’s background is in BBC radio, television and online news, where he worked as a reporter, specialist correspondent and trainer. He set up and ran the BBC’s first international local radio school, in Bucharest, Romania. He also has over 30 years’ experience as media interview trainer for a wide range of blue-chip clients, including government agencies and departments, the University of Cambridge and the UK Environment Agency.

An expert on the nature of news and news values, John is a former Press Fellow of Wolfson College, Cambridge. He is the author of What is NewsHandling Media Interviews (both books available from Kindle) and Communications Skills for Engineers and Scientists.

Accreditation: MEPRA has partnered with UK’s Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) to establish a continuous professional development (CPD) program. MEPRA members will receive access to CIPR’s CPD platform, which includes more than 1,200 learning resources and enables practitioners to map their training journey and earn their way to becoming MEPRA and CIPR Accredited Public Relations Practitioners.
