STARZPLAY, the homegrown subscription video on demand (SVOD) service in the Middle East and North Africa region, recorded phenomenal year-on-year year growth reaching around 1.7 million paying subscribers by end of 2019. The unprecedented pandemic gave the already booming streaming video on demand (SVOD) industry a significant boost. With total subscription numbers rising and predicted to increase exponentially in the near and distant future, STARZPLAY had the opportunity to further strengthen its standing as a regional player and an industry thought leader. This called for a creative approach to PR – to amplify the story of STARZPLAY through evidence-based communications: By commissioning original research on SVOD consumption patterns in the region, in a first-of-its-kind study.
