SHOW TYPE 2 DIABETES THE RED CARD

In October 2023, Merck Gulf and Tales & Heads launched the first-of-its-kind diabetes screening programme and supporting campaign entitled ‘Show Type 2 Diabetes the Red Card’. Its primary objective is to take proactive action against a disease that often goes unnoticed until it’s too late, with the support of the Ministry of Health and Prevention and various health entities across the Emirates. The nationwide programme was successfully nominated by the Prime Minister’s Office as one of the UAE Government Accelerators programmes, with an initial target of completing 5,000 screenings in 100 days. As proof of its success, the campaign achieved an exceptional outcome in just three months, surpassing over 12,000 screenings. Currently, the campaign continues to build on its success, with screening extended across other Emirates and an overarching goal to support the development of evidence-based approaches for screening, treatment, and care.
