Flying the Falcon LLM in Abu Dhabi’s Mission to Democratize Access to AI

TII orchestrated a multi-phase strategic campaign to launch its world-leading Falcon LLMs. The integrated communications approach encompassed social media, digital engagement, PR, media relations, thought leadership, and executive positioning to promote Falcon 180B and Falcon 2 11B and highlight its world-leading performance. The campaign secured extensive international media coverage and generated millions of social media impressions. The increased awareness resulted in millions of downloads from the developer community and facilitated critical government-to-government partnerships. Key achievements included the announcement of the $300 million Falcon Foundation and more than 45 million downloads of Falcon LLMs. The Economist called the UAE the third-most important country in AI. The campaign exceeded its objectives but also sparked broader conversations about open-source AI technology, and the need to balance innovation with regulation. By highlighting the UAE’s commitment to AI democratization and accessibility, the campaign significantly elevated Abu Dhabi’s standing in the global AI discourse.
