The onset of the pandemic changed the education landscape
forever, disrupting traditional models of education and forcing
education institutions to adapt overnight. Professor Mohamed
Watfa, Associate Dean, Research, Faculty of Engineering and
Information Sciences at University of Wollongong in
Dubai (UOWD) inspired by a vision of education being accessible to all, launched Tutoritto, a first of its kind virtual expert-led
learning app in the UAE, providing students the opportunity to
seek one-to-one advice at the push of a button from experts.
During the pandemic, he was also the first in the UAE to use the
latest technology to enhance students’ learning experience. The
result? An incredible 93% of his students (sample size: 425) saw
a positive improvement and better overall attention, motivation
and confidence in the learning material, due to these innovations.
