The Challenge
In Dubai, the rapid growth in the health industry has driven continuous development has seen the need for blood increasing by 10% every year year (according to Dubai Blood Donation Centre). During the COVID-19 pandemic, blood services worldwide challenged the availability of blood supplies with lockdowns, fear of blood donation and lack of blood donation drives.
The Objectives
With an objective of creating a donor generation of tomorrow, ‘The Perfect Gift is Saving Lives’ campaign was launched by Dubai Holding and the Dubai Health Authority, through DBDC. To meet the rising need during March 2021, this campaign was meticulously curated to target Dubai Holding’s retail destinations and residential communities.
The Results
The 3 campaign secured a successful 770 blood units for DBDC. 652 first-time donors, i.e. 71% of first-time donors database was generated generated (the highest rate of new donors DHA has achieved through its blood drives).
