Naeema Al Ali

Naeema graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree psychology in 1988 and planning to complete her PhD in United Kingdom.
She has a total of 30 years work experience as a Psychologist in general hospital and in faculty of medicine settings.

In 1989, she was employed as a Clinical Psychologist at Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital in Dubai thereafter, moved to Ministry of Health (Emirates of Abu Dhabi) to work at Tawam Hospital in Al Ain as a Clinical Psychologist. Later on she has been promoted as a Director of Psycho-Social Department in 2001. Naeema’s has vast expertise in professional counseling and psycho-therapy for patients and families. Aside from that, she provided therapeutic and crisis intervention and emergency services in UAE. Her professional duties covered a wide range of syndromes such as phobia, obsessive disorders, manic depression and also providing counseling to prisoners in Al Ain and Dubai. Naeema has trained psychology and social worker students of UAE University. She is actively providing counseling support to cancer patients and their families. She launched anoccupational therapy for cancer patients and cognitive behavioral therapy in Tawam.
Due to her continued support in oncology and ongoing support to cancer patients, Naeema received countless awards locally and international to recognize her achievements and skills. She has been invited to participate in various conferences and workshops around the world and invited as a guest speakers in various subjects that covers psychology.

Momentary, she joined Al Sayegh Medical Center as a Social Worker, providing comprehensive assessment and treatment services to children and families, in inpatient and/or outpatient settings, and communicates with referral sources as indicated by applying psychometric test, such as IQ Test, MMPI, Wechsler Test for children. Exhibit superior communication skills to uncover complicated mental health issues; develop and recommend treatment plans based on
patient needs and diagnosis.

In 2004, Naeema continued working as a clinical psychologist providing counseling within the multi-cultural environment of the Emirates Airlines for the past 15 years. Her main task is providing mental health support to inflight and ground staff and addresses any problems, anxieties or job-related stresses that they are dealing with. She uses her findings to help improve processes and behaviors of a patient to maintain a safe environment, to manage stress, overcome trauma, or avoid job-related conflicts. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the method Naeema is using to reduce the difficulties, anxieties and stress that employee faces. Naeema is also part of “Shawer”, the “Seek our Advice”, “We Listen to You” program of the Family Development Foundation of Abu Dhabi. The aim of the program was to promote family awareness and support a stable family life. It involves a group of community members who deal with family problems in a positive manner and provide individual and group counseling in social, psychological and educat ional areas. They do so in a systematic way according to the needs of community members. Besides “Shawer”, Naeema is also a volunteer of “Friends of Cancer” of Sharjah, supporting patients and their families to overcome the multitude psychological difficulties that they are experiencing due to cancer treatment as well asintroducing some programs such as health education, self-care and some community programs wherein they can collaborate and share their experiences. Lastly, Naeema is one of “Those Who Inspire”, who is an inspiring person who boldly encourage Millennials and Gen Z to pursue their dreams, believe in themselves, and help them find reliable role models and mentors in their own country.

In Chapter Three it was stated that Naeema Abdulla Ali Ali has devoted her life to bettering the lives of others. In her volunteer work, she has brought smiles to the faces of countless children, serving as an ally and friend in their fight against cancer. Her contributions to the community show that anyone, anywhere can improve the lives of others and make the world a better place.
