This is a practical workshop where you will learn how to develop effective writing skills and gain insights from a practicing journalist who has worked across several national and regional top tier titles.

Course objectives:
Participation in this course will help you gain skills and knowledge on:
• UAE English media – a typical day in a print newsroom and when to pitch
• How to write a press release that cuts through the clutter
• Styles of feature writing: Which suits your story best?
• Write an impactful op-ed: What do journalists need from your piece

Facilitator: Jennifer Bell is a British-trained, award-winning international correspondent trained to the highest level in the UK. She has ten years industry experience and is a former senior journalist and a senior national editor for The National newspaper. Jennifer, who is now a freelance journalist, contributes to many top tier titles across the region including, Gulf News, Arab Weekly, Arabian Business, Arabian Business Qatar, The Business Voice, Life 360, Middle East Health, Business Benchmark, and commissions for UK titles such as a special reports for The Telegraph. She also compiles editorials for WorldSkills Abu Dhabi and WorldsSkills International, Dubai Cares and United Arab Emirates University (UAEU).

Accreditation: MEPRA is currently working with the UK’s Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) on establishing a partnered Continuous Development Program (CPD). This course will be recognised within the CPD framework and count towards becoming a CIPR and MEPRA Accredited Public Relations Practitioner. The CPD Framework will be launched in Q3 2017.
