55% of Middle East PR Awards Presented to Local Brands – UAE, Egypt, Kuwait, Lebanon and Qatari Communicators celebrated! Local brands picked up a haul of 23 trophies at this week’s Middle East PR Awards including the lion’s share of Gold and Bronze awards.

The pick of the crop included entries from the UAE Ministry of Energy, the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, Etihad Airways, Flash Entertainment, the UAE Space Agency, Noor Bank, Souq.com and GMASCO. Ooredoo Kuwait’s Yasser Mohammed was named the Outstanding Young Communicator for the In-House Practitioner category.

Carine Duvignaud, General Manager of the Middle East PR Association said: “The Middle East PR Awards ceremony is the event of the year for professional communicators. This year has been our largest and most successful gala event, doubling the previous year’s attendance. We congratulate all the winners and the short-listed entries for helping to raise the bar to global standards, and to at least one of our entrants for taking us even beyond this!”

 

Leading the way for the multinationals were Nissan, Uber, Roche and Coke with “Golds” and Philips, the Intercontinental Hotel Group, Tourism Ireland and Visit Britain receiving Slver and Bronze awards. Mohanned Lafi from Four Communications was named Outstanding Communicator of the Year – Agency Staff with Katie Fyfe from Grayling named Highly Commended.

Eve Stubbs, Programme Coordinator of Middlesex University Dubai’s School of Media and Performing Arts said: “We are proud to sponsor the Middle East PR Awards and especially the Outstanding Young Communicator category. Each year the quality of candidates continues to surpass expectations. They provide exciting prospects for the future of the industry and great role-models for the generations to follow.”

 

The blue-ribbon prizes were shared between Memac Ogilvy (Campaign of the Year), Four Communications (Agency of the Year) whilst H+K Strategies’ President & CEO Middle East, Africa and Turkey, and former MEPRA Chairwoman, Sconaid McGeachin received the “Chairman’s Award” for her contributions to the Middle East PR industry.
