Our campaign with Veolia brought Oman’s water security efforts to global attention, including a front cover on the Financial Times. We simplified technical messaging and humanized the story, showcasing Veolia’s impact on sustainability and regional stability.

We worked with Veolia to spotlight Oman’s water security challenges and showcase the company’s role in sustainable desalination. Despite Veolia’s long presence in Oman, the company had little media visibility.

Our goal was to simplify technical content, make the issue relatable, and connect Veolia’s initiatives to Oman’s Vision 2040. We engaged local journalists with clear, accessible information, and told human stories—like featuring Omani women in the water sector. We aligned Veolia’s work with Oman’s national sustainability goals. A key part of our strategy was organizing a press trip for international media to visit Veolia’s desalination plants in Oman.

This resulted in widespread coverage, including a Financial Times front page and features in The Telegraph and Forbes. The campaign had a reach of 118 million, with 33 interviews and 100% positive messaging. Veolia’s Oman operations were also recognized as a global innovation hub, strengthening its regional position.

Seasoned communications expert with a specialization in Environmental, Social and Governmental (ESG) communications, Showkat leads on all sustainability-related PR at Gambit,bringing his experience to clients such as Sharjah Sustainable City, Veolia, Aramex, Deyaar and more. A former journalist who moved client side, Showkat has over 15 years’ experience in
the media and communication sector. Prior to joining Gambit, he was a communications specialist at the International Centre for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA), Senior Media and Communications Officer at ICRISAT, a member of the French-based CGIAR — the world’s biggest agricultural research network, and an Assistant Media Advisor at the US Department of State, at the US
Consulate General in Hyderabad, India. Holder of a master’s degree in Electronic Media from Bangalore University and a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and Video Production from the University of Kashmir, Showkat also holds certificates in Leadership and Communication from the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, USA; and Advanced Writing from the Foreign Service Institute (FSI), US State Department, USA.

Maryam Al Ansari, Junior Account Executive, Gambit Communications

Emirati born and raised, Maryam Al Ansari brings thoughtful storytelling to the world of PR. As part of Gambit’s Sage team, she works across accounts including Veolia,, American University of Sharjah and Sharjah Sustainable City. A proud alumna of the American University of Sharjah, Maryam graduated with Cum Laude honors in Mass Communication. During her time on campus, she served two consecutive terms on the Student Council, where she played an active role in shaping student life and driving
meaningful initiatives. A fitness enthusiast with a love for culture, Maryam enjoys lifting weights, connecting with people from all walks of life, and hunting down niche perfumes in her free time.
