The Opportunity

The International Media Relations Manager will have a proven track record as an excellent writer and media relations professional and will work with the Head of Media Relations to shape and communicate DP World’s corporate story to the media globally.  The IMRM would support the development and execution of the global media relations programme, targeting international media and relaying DP World’s key messages, vision, mission, values and overall brand promise to support business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Head of Media Relations to develop, coordinate and execute compelling media relations plans that promote and protect the brand and reputation of DP World globally.
  • Coordinate regularly with colleagues globally to ensure all media relations materials accurately reflect the company’s current positioning, key messages and latest statistics;
  • Develop high-quality media content, in Arabic and English, including but not limited to: speeches, news releases, fact sheets, blogs and opinion pieces.
  • Develop proactive corporate storylines and thought leadership themes for the media to support DP World’s strategic goals
  • Monitor the media marketplace to stay abreast of trends, opportunities and emerging issues and provide advice to senior executives at head office and select markets globally on relations with the media and relevant news hooks
  • Develop, nurture, expand and maintain strong media relationships and help prepare executives for media interactions.
  • Act as principal liaison between with international Arabic and English media in select markets globally, in close association with Head of Media Relations Work with and support the UAE Region media Relations manager, responsible for handling all local media in the UAE.
  • Serve as a spokesperson and media liaison for DP World as directed by the Head of Media Relations.
  • Manage incoming media enquiries and proactive outreach, working with appropriate colleagues to provide a timely response
  • Manage outside media relations consultants, partners and vendors
  • Work with the Head of Media Relations to measure and evaluate the effectiveness of media coverage globally
  • Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times when working; promoting and demonstrating positive behaviours in harmony with DP World’s Principles, values and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree; Minimum 8 years intermediate corporate communications/journalism experience
  • Outstanding English written and oral skills, Arabic is also highly desired
  • In-depth knowledge of media relations
  • Proven track record of dealing with the media and running media campaigns
  • Ability to produce clear and concise written material for the media, in English
  • Ability to speak in public and conduct presentations
  • Excellent skills in people management, negotiation, networking, planning, research and analysis
  • Outgoing personality and self-confident, focused and with great attention to detail
  • A team player; proactive and self-motivated
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Innovative and creative, with sound ethical values
