The Opportunity

The Senior Manager Brand PR (Premium and Select) supports the Senior Director Communications to develop and execute strategic public relations initiatives and communications for Marriott International Premium and Select brands in the continent. The role is focused achieving positive awareness for the company in the continent; promoting brand positioning and experiences, brand growth and development, reaching new / next generation customer segments; and building Marriott’s brand reputation in the Continent.

The Senior Manager Brand PR (Premium and Select) will play an important role in fully integrating public relations for the Premium and Select Brands into MEA’s sales and marketing strategy, CSR strategy as well as operations and regional development goals and also activating individual brand strategies and initiatives for those brands in MEA. The role will oversee management of internal and external public relations resources and be responsible for interfacing with and developing relationships with the media.

The position will collaborate and be closely aligned with the Marriott Global Communications & Public Affairs department, the Marriott Global Consumer PR department and the Global Brand and Marketing teams at corporate office in Washington, to ensure pull-through of brand strategies and messaging into MEA.

Responsibilities

• Together with the Senior Director, develops the Premium and Select Brands communications strategy and activates and implements plan.
• The position will play a key role as public relations liaison with the Continent teams to align with global strategies and cascade brand communications within the continent. Leads PR programs during webinars, meetings and other organizational activities to various disciplines and groups throughout the organization, as well as externally.
• Develops integrated public relations tools (e.g., manuals, training modules, newsletters) for field use that support and elevate the level of public relations activity.
• Manages multiple agency relationships (PR, social, legal) to ensure the success and alignment of all initiatives.
• Provides leadership and oversight for Premium and Select Brand PR activities managed by the Communications Hubs in MEA.
• Works cross-functionally with internal disciplines and departments (including Brand, Marketing, Legal, Operations, Global Communications, Development, A&C, F&B, etc.) throughout the organization to enhance, develop and maintain PR programs and strategies.
• Creates and delivers presentations to key stakeholders.
• Provides public relations support and input at major regional, market, or brand meetings.
• Collaborates with manager and the broader Consumer Public Relations team members in developing ongoing internal publicity for assigned areas.
• Responds to, solves and makes decisions on PR programs and initiatives for the assigned areas.
• Manages program budgets and scopes for PR initiatives.
• Supports portfolio wide PR initiatives by pulling them through, as appropriate, in brand materials.

Events – Premium and Select Brands:
• Executes various PR initiatives and programs and collaborates with team members across the brand in support of these efforts.
• Manages events, such as openings, press conferences, off-property events, conferences and media tours.
• Acts as PR representative and spokesperson for the assigned areas both internally and at external events.
• Supports market pull-through on company initiatives, news and brand messaging.
• Increases awareness of brand initiatives internally as relevant, by creating internal communications, managing internal events, and working with internal stakeholders and their various communication channels.

Media/Social Media Relations – Premium and Select Brands:
• Identifies and develops relationships with key influencers and leverages influencer relationships in support of brand programming.
• Builds media relationships with key targets in travel, lifestyle, fashion and other outlets to generate awareness of the Premium and Select portfolio and brands.
• Partners in the development of various press materials, including press releases and speeches, which can be used across a wide variety of media outlets including digital and social to drive engagement with target consumers.
• Executes crisis/reputation management efforts on behalf of brands when necessary and fully coordinate with corporate communication crisis management teams.

Requirements

• 5-7 years of senior level public relations, marketing communications and corporate communications experience, preferably within the travel / hospitality sector.
• Hotel brand experience preferred.
• Experience and ability to manage the interests and demands of multiple stakeholders.
• University degree or equivalent in Public Relations / Communications / Marketing.
