New Research Reveals the State of Internal Communications and Culture Across the Gulf

article

Until now, data on Internal Communications and Corporate Culture has mostly reflected North American and European contexts — leaving the MENA region without local benchmarks.

That gap is now closed. For the first time, leaders in the Gulf have access to real data on how organizations structure their internal communications and culture functions — their goals, challenges, tools, and effectiveness.

The study covers 132 organizations across six Gulf countries, providing the first set of regional benchmarks leaders can use to design stronger, more effective internal communications and culture functions.

Among the findings: 98% of Gulf organizations already have an internal communications function — yet only 27% consider it effective. The research also explores how function ownership, leadership involvement, and AI adoption shape the maturity and impact of communication and culture across the region.

The research was conducted by Sage XP, a Bahrain-based consultancy specializing in Internal Communications and Corporate Culture, founded by Kateryna Byelova, a senior communications leader with over 15 years of international experience.
